Our library is in the heart of our school: it is a warm and welcoming place for children to visit and explore the world of books. We have a HUGE selection to choose from including fiction, non-fiction, classics, short-stories, poetry and graphic novels. We also have dual-language, large-print and dyslexia-friendly collections. We ensure that our children have access to books that reflect a diverse range of characters, cultures and backgrounds and encourage our children to have a rich reading diet consisting of a variety of authors and genres.
All year groups visit the library regularly (either weekly or fortnightly). In their library sessions, teachers foster the love of reading by sharing a book with their class. Children are then free to browse the library and engage in ‘book chat’ where they can recommend books to each other and share their thoughts about their reading. Children are encouraged to borrow library books to read at home alongside their reading books. Children can also choose to visit the library independently at lunchtimes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Miss Kelly, who is our reading lead, manages the day-to-day running of the library and organises special reading events in school. Mrs Walsh is our lunch time librarian. She is an avid reader who has fantastic knowledge of children’s literature.

We also have our wonderful Year 6 Junior Librarians who, at lunchtimes, help organise the library, keep it tidy and, most importantly, support younger children with their book choices. They are superstars!
Finally, our library is overseen by our school reading mascot, Biblio, who was specially designed for us by children’s author and illustrator, Nick Sharratt.
Unsure what to read next with your child? Please reach out. We believe there is a book for everyone and we will help you find one that you love.
Please remember to log reading at home on BoomReader.
Happy reading!
