School Uniform

At Headlands Primary School we have the highest of standards in all that we do and we take real pride in our appearance.

From September 2018 we replaced the gold polo shirt with a white shirt and tie for Years 5 and 6.  In September 2019 we will do the same for Years 3 and 4. All other items of uniform will remain the same.  Our uniform is as follows:-

Years Reception - Year 2 (inclusive)

  • Gold polo shirt with school logo
  • Royal blue v neck sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo
  • Grey tailored trousers/shorts, skirt or pinafore dress, grey tights and black shoes. Please avoid black skirts/trousers and also jeggings or leggings.

Years 3 - 6

  • White formal shirt with collar
  • School tie
  • Royal blue v neck sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo
  • Grey tailored trousers/shorts, skirt or pinafore dress, grey tights and black shoes. Please avoid black skirts/trousers and also jeggings or leggings.

Children may wear royal blue gingham summer dresses during the summer term.

School sweatshirts, ties, cardigans and fleeces with the school logo on are available to purchase from the School Wear Shop

Please note: Jelly shoes, boots and trainers (other than for PE) are not allowed to be worn during the school day

Hair accessories should be minimal and preferably in school colours.  Hair should be kept out of children's eyes using headbands, clips and slides; again preferably using school colours. If your child has shoulder length hair, for health and safety reasons, we request that it is tied back in a ponytail. If you wish your child to wear a headscarf for religious reasons, then this item must be royal or navy blue.  Headscarves must not have any embellishments, such as diamante decoration.

PE Kit

Blue shorts and a coloured t-shirt to represent the house your child is in:-

  • Green – Cedar
  • Red – Cherry
  • Blue – Birch
  • Yellow – Oak

Plimsolls or trainers (for outdoor games).  In winter, plain black or grey tracksuit trousers and sweatshirt are also recommended.

Swimming

Swimming is a crucial life skill which is why it is compulsory in the national curriculum for primary-age pupils.  It is therefore extremely important that children arrive at school with their swimming kit.  Please note that the correct kit is as follows:-

Boys - Lycra swimming trunks (shorts are not permitted) and swimming hat

Girls - One piece costume and swimming hat

Swimming hats are issued when your child starts school.  Should you need a replacement hat these can be purchased via your class teacher for 50p.  Jewellery is not permitted.

Jewellery

Jewellery is not expected to be worn although watches are permitted.  If your child has pierced ears, then one pair of studs is acceptable. We expect that if children have their ears pierced, then this should be done at the start of the summer holidays so that they can be removed independently by the child when they return to school.  All jewellery must be removed before any PE lessons.

Makeup

Children are not permitted to wear any type of makeup including nail varnish.

Book Bags

On admission to the school your child will be issued with a school book bag.  This is for carrying your child’s reading book and any communication between school and home.  Should you misplace the book bag then replacements can be purchased from:-
